Oyo Governor's Cup kick off

ALL is now set for the commencement of this year's edition of the Oyo state Governor's Cup football competition among secondary schools in the state.A statement from the main organising committee for the competition stated that the championship will kick-off at the various local governments in the state on Tuesday, 8th November, 2011.Scribe of the media and publicity sub-committee, Mr Olaolu Fawole hinted that for the first time, the competition will be opened to non-public schools, adding that all public and private schools will be involved in the football contest.He stated that the decision to inculcate private schools for the first time was borne out of the need to take the message of the catch-them-young initiative to them, as many talents had already been discovered in the public schools.Mr Fawole stressed that the Governor's cup was being re-packaged to give it back the shine associated with the competition in the golden past, when majority of national team players were fished out from the academicals level.
