Ebute Meta residents want buildings demolished

Residents of EbuteMeta in Yaba LocalGovernment of Lagos State have called on the state government to act fast and demolish some dilapidated buildings in the area to avoid incident of collapse buildings.Last year, the incident of collapse building was very rampant, killing some people, while some were severely wounded and millions of property destroyed.But some residents in the area who sought anonymity have called on the state government to act fast by demolishing some of the buildings that have been showing signs of weakness.Some of the residents explained that it was better for government to demolish instead of allowing the buildings to collapse on their own.Community News learnt that the state government officials marked some buildings for demolition but that the landlords of the affected buildings because of their own selfish reason prevented the exercise.Community News learnt that some of the buildings in the area were built about 50years ago with bricks and due to age and lack of maintenance, some of them were giving way, hence the increase in the case of collapse in buildings in the area.
