Training for engineers

The National Power Training Institute of Nigeria has expressed the need to train and retrain engineers in the industry on modern Information and Computer Technologies to enable them man sensitive equipment.The Director-General of the institute, Mr. Reuben Okeke, made this known in Abuja on Tuesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.Okeke noted that only about 10 per cent of engineers in the sector were presently trained, adding that they needed to be retrained to enable them impact the knowledge to others."I can tell you that not up to 10 per cent of the workforce in the power sector today can use Information Technology approach in solving some of their problems," he said.
