Why babies do better sleeping next to their mothers

Early separation has long-term effects on the health and development of newborns. Experts warn that the practice of putting newborns in nearby cots to give their mothers some rest after labour or separating infants from their mothers at night can make them distressed, and far less likely to sleep, reports Sade Oguntola.
