Tafida comments on Britain's aid cut threat on Africa for anti-gay stance

Nigeria's High Commissioner to the UK, Dr Dalhatu Tafida, has said that only the Federal Government had the right to decide what best suits its citizens.Tafida made the remark in an interview with the Western Europe Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, as some Africans have expressed outrage British Prime Minister David Cameron's thresa to cut aid to African countries that did not respect gay rights. --Audio.'I know Nigeria knows what is best for itself, for its people and I fully support what Senate President David Mark said.'NAN recalls that Mark, while lending support to the Bill for the Prohibition of Same Sex Marriage in Nigeria had said: 'My faith, Christianity abhors it; I cannot be a party to it.'' Tafida said: 'We should be left to decide for ourselves''.
