Surrender yourself to police, PDP tells Ekiti APC chairman

FOLLOWING a judgement by a federal high court sitting in Jos, Plateau State that varied an earlier ruling on an application by the Ekiti State chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Jide Awe, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Chief Awe to surrender himself for trial.The PDP said in a statement, made available to newsmen, in Ado Ekiti, on Thursday, that the APC chairman should obey the law, 'since a Federal High Court in Jos has vacated an order that restrained the police from arresting him.'In the statement signed by the Secretary of the PDP in Ekiti State, Dr Tope Aluko, the party said 'if the APC boss has no skeleton in his cupboard, there is no need for him to be running from pillar to post in order to evade arrest by the security agents.'Aluko said, 'Chief Jide Awe could only prove his innocence in the court of law instead of looking for short cut to escape justice by seeking some frivolous injunctions around the country.'According to the PDP scribe, 'by going to Jos, Plateau State to prevent his murder case in Ekiti State, the APC chairman has proved that he has something hidden, which he believes will be easily exposed if he should surrender himself for trial.'He charged the police 'to swing into action and effect the arrest of the APC chairman and others who were standing trial for the murder of the late Ayo Jeje and Madam Juliana Adewumi, who were both shot at Erijiyan-Ekiti; before they run away again.'Chief Awe and others were charged for the murder of Jeje and Mrs Adewumi, who were shot on the eve of the day Jeje was to lead a team of APC members to formally defect to the PDP.
