Ebonyi State Government orders defunct LGA Chairmen...

The Ebonyi State Government has directed that the defunct Local Government Chairmen and Councillors in the 13 Local Governments of the State should vacate their offices before the close of work today,the 2nd day of December,2014 and hand over all government property in their possession to the Directors/Heads of Personnel Management in their Local Governments.The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor,Dr. 0nyekachi Eni,who announced this in a Press Statement explained that this followed a Court ruling today which nullified the Local Government elections conducted in the State in 0ctober,2013.He saidthe Ebonyi State Government has received with mixed feelings the judgment of the Federal High Court,Abakalikip,presided over by. Justice Maureen OyetenuAccording to him, Ebonyi State Government being a government instituted by rule of law cannot but obey the judgment of the Court.Based on this Judgment,Dr.Eni has instructed all the Security Agents in the Local Government to ensure the security of government within their areas.In the vein,he enjoined all Eboyians to remain peaceful as Government will give more directives to avoid vacuum in the system.
