Published by Tribune on Thu, 10 Nov 2011

Residents of Ejigbo in Oshodi Isolo Local Government Area of Lagos State have called on the state government to repair Egbe-Ejigbo road to ease traffic congestion.Community News learnt from motorists and residents that the roads in the area were in very deplorable state, forcing motorists to avoid plying the area.'Our roads are very bad. We usually experience serious traffic snarl everyday due to poor state of the roads, hence we always waste many hours on daily basis. The stategovernment will do us a lot of good if the roads in the community, especially the one linking Ejigbo with Egbe is rehabilitated,' Alhaji Orelope Azeez, explained.Community News learnt that the presence of fuel tankers that ply the roads also contributed to the poor condition of the roads in the area.'Petrol tankers also ply this area and due to this, the roads are always in deplorable condition. State government needs to give the roads serious attention to save the people from traffic bottleneck.Another resident, Mrs Yetunde Bello, lamented that the poor state of the road was giving the residents serious headache as they spend fortunes on transportation daily.'Because of poor roads in the community, commercial drivers often avoid plying this area and the few ones that ply it have often charged exorbitant fares. We want the state government to come to our aid by repairing the roads to save the situation.
