Total MD's Cup kicks off in Lagos

LAGOS will be ago today as the second Total Nigeria Plc's Managing Director's Cup kicks off at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere, and Campos Square.The bi-annual football tournament among employees of Total Nigeria Plc is aimed at encouraging healthy lifestyle and teamwork, which is in furtherance of the healthy living campaign by the company.The maiden edition was held in 2009, at Onikan Stadium where the Northern Territory Team emerged winner.According to a release by the organisers of the competition, this year's event will feature four participating teams, including the Head Office, Western, Eastern and Northern Territories.The organisers also revealed that the competition would be 'conducted in league format whereby teams will play against each other and it is open only to male employees of the company,' adding that the grand finale will hold on Saturday, November 12, with a healthy living walk from the company's Head Office in Victoria Island to the Campos Mini Stadium.The organisers, who revealed that a novelty match would precede the final match, added that several awards have been lined up to encourage players and teams as a whole.
