N8.2b abandoned healthcare projects worry agency

THE National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has urged the Federal Government to complete its abandoned projects worth N8.2 billion.The Executive Director of NPHCDA, Dr. Jimada Mohammed, was told by his predecessor, Dr. Emmanuel Abanida, at the handing over ceremony yesterday in Abuja that the projects were abandoned since 2001.Abanida identified the late release of funds as hindering the projects' completion.'The money comes at such a time it is not possible for the agency to complete these projects', he said.He, therefore, urged the government to execute projects because they are critical to realising the mandate of NPHCDA.Mohammed has a Masters degree in Public Health from the University of Wales, Cardiff, United Kingdom (UK) in 1996 and Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, University of Ilorin, Kwara State, in 1992.Before his appointment, he was the special assistant with oversight functions on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in the office of the Permanent Secretary, State House..
