Orji, contractors meet over road projects

CONTRACTORS handling road projects in Abia State and Governor Theodore Orji yesterday met in Umuahia, the state capital, to fashion out ways to maximise the coming dry season to execute the jobs.The contractors had withdrawn from their sites over alleged delayed payments, but at the meeting, they pledged to resume work having understood better the financial position of the government.Orji said despite all odds, the contractors would be mobilised next week from sources he described as specific savings for the projects.At the meeting convened by the governor, Orji said due to the paucity of funds and to endure equity, every council in the state would benefit from the projects.Spokesman of the contractors and Managing Director of BOK Company Ltd, Ifeanyi Okechukwu, pledged that they would immediately return to sites and properly handle the jobs.
