Anenih football tourney set to begin

Several committees for the Tony Anenih Unity Football Tournament will be inaugurated on Sunday at the Nova Hotel, Uromi, Edo State, consultant to the competition, Brown Ebewele, has said. The tournament is expected to kickoff before the end of the year.Ebewele, a former Commissioner for Sports in Edo State, said all the wards in the Esan Senatorial District would participate in the competition, adding that 15 teams would qualify for the main league phase of the competition.He said, Football academies are everywhere to discover talents but it is sad that Esan land, has none. The committees would be inaugurated from the unit to the senatorial level and they would be saddled with the task of fishing out talents for the teams that will take part in the competition.The event is going to be continuous and it will bring out the best players in Esan land. The tourney is meant to immortalise Chief Tony Anenih for his contribution to the Esan Senatorial District of the state.It was learnt that the Minister of Works, Mike Onolememen, is the patron of the competition while the Main Organising Committee of the event has Andy Egbadon as chairman with Christopher Adiman as secretary.Other members of the MOC are Udo Momodu, Roy Oribhabor, Faith Ojeaga, Mercy Uijiatalor and Ernest Imafidon.
