We tend to reply to all these applications as they come,' Wahab told the court. However, counsel to the 1st respondent, Gbenga Ojo, told the court that in the light of what happened in the PDP primaries on Monday, the suit does not hold much water.'In view of what happened in the PDP primaries where the 1at respondent lost the elections, the matter has become an academic exercise and would not serve any purpose.'Wahab Shittu, in a swift reply, however, pointed out that the respondents were not taking the matter seriously, adding that the major reliefs sought by the applicants should be dealt with expeditiously.Senate Leader demands cancellation of senatorial primaries in C/River Taiwo Adisa - abujaSenate Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, has demanded the cancellation of the senatorial primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) conducted in Cross River central senatorial district.Senator Ndoma-Egba, in a letter of appeal addressed to the PDP Electoral Appeal Panel, dated December 8, said that the primary failed to follow the guidelines of the PDP for the election. He stated that the primaries was fraught with irregularities and blatant flouting of the electoral laws, adding that the delegates list was not made available.Senator Ndoma-Egba said: 'the exercise was fundamentally and fatally flawed as it fell short of the minimum integrity for an electoral process. The exercise was in complete disregard of the PDP's guidelines for primaries in the following: the delegates list; accreditation, violent atmosphere, non-display of sensitive materials and non delegates voting. He further said: 'given these, I totally rejected the outcome of the purported primaries for the Cross River Central Senatorial District held on Sunday 7, December 2014 in Ikom, therefore pray this distinguished panel to cancel the primaries.'I trust you to give this appeal your dispassionate consideration in the interest of justice, the sanctity of the electoral process and our democracy.'In another letter, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Cross Rivers State, Mr Mike Igini, has also kicked against the primaries, saying that it was 'far below the standards of 2011 and this is not encouraging.'The list of delegates used for the primaries was not made public. Let us not be despaired by the disappointments, dashed hopes, failed promises and pains of the present regime in Ogun State.'I will be a listener. I will not inflict pain on our citizens. Our policies will have human face. I will consult with all layers of the party always. I will run an efficient and open-door administration and I will utilise the resources of our state judiciously.'My word will always be my bond and I want to be held by it. Consequently, it is a breach of the electoral act (2010).'I am a law-abiding citizen of this country and a law-abiding member of the party and I also believe PDP is a law-abiding party. I am very sure President Jonathan, as the leader of the party, will not lend his name to the charade in the name of a PDP party primaries. As far as the law is concerned, PDP is yet to elect its candidate for the 2015 governorship election in Oyo State,' he said.In a court order signed by Justice E.S Chukwu of the Federal High Court, Abuja on December 5, 2014 and obtained by the Nigerian Tribune, the court noted:'An order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendants (Peoples Democratic Party) PDP National Legal Adviser, PDP National Organising Secretary, Chairman Electoral Committee PDP in Oyo State, Secretary Electoral Committee PDP in Oyo State, Independent National Electoral Commission), their agents, servants, etc, from using any other delegates other than those who emerged victorious at the ward delegates congresses conducted in all the 351 wards in Oyo State and whose names appear on exhibit G of the supporting affidavit as voters during the PDP primary elections for the selection of candidates for elections into the offices of the State House of Assembly, National Assembly and Governor of Oyo State.'Adamawa delegates to shun National Convention Kabeer Gwangwazo - YolaAdamawa State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders and aspirants of all cadres in the state have, on Tuesday, threatened to boycott tomorrow's party convention, alleging that the national leadership of the party imposed unpopular candidates, 'against the wish of the people.'The position of the stakeholders was made known on Tuesday during a press conference.'It is our collective view that anything short of cancellation of kangaroo primaries by the NWC of our party will leave us with no option but to follow the views of the entire great majority of the people of Adamawa State.'We, therefore, resolve to abstain from the National Convention of the party scheduled for tomorrow,' said Chief Joel Madaki, suspended state chairman of the party.'But unfortunately, in the case of Adamawa State, all the delegates and aspirants were in Yola without any communication either from INEC or the party, while a purported election was said to have taken place in Abuja,' he fumed.Kwara gov aspirants call for fresh primaries Biola Azeez - IlorinEleven out of the 12 registered governorship aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, under the aegis of Kwara PDP Governorship Aspirants' Forum, have called for fresh governorship primaries in the state between December 10 and 11, 2014.It will be recalled that the PDP governorship primaries was inconclusive as fight broke out among delegates at the voting centre of the election at about 9:30p.m. on Monday over disagreement on delegates list.Addressing journalists in Ilorin, on Tuesday, chairman of the forum, Senator Simeon Sule Ajibola, said that primaries never took place in the state 'despite peaceful atmosphere.'All the 11 governorship aspirants in the group that attended the press conference included Senator Simeon Ajibola, Senator Suleiman Ajadi, Professor Oba Abdulraheem, Senator Gbemisola Saraki, Alhaji Abdulhakeem Lawal, Honourable Bio Ibrahim, Mr Sunday Babalola, Mr Kale Belgore, Alhaji Abdullahi Sanusi, Mr Jani Ibrahim, and Deacon John Dara. The group, which said it still kept faith with the party and believed that the party had all it takes to win the general election, added that it would resist and collectively fight any attempt to impose any aspirant as the flag-bearer of the party without free, fair and transparent primaries. The governorship aspirants, who blamed the Monday's botched primaries on trio of the minister for National Planning, Sulaiman Abubakar, Hajia Bola Shagaya, and one of the governorship aspirants, Mr Dele Belgore, said that the process began with 'several attempts to undermine it and subvert rules to pave way for rigging the primaries in favour of Dele Belgore.'Senator Ajibola also said that the total number of delegates for the election was 709, adding that the number was increased to 1,500 by the leadership of the party.'We observed that over 700 people arrived in several buses escorted by the police attached to the trio of the minister, Bola Shagaya and Dele Belgore, with delegates' accreditation tags just as the process was about to begin. That was when commotion started and the fake delegates started throwing chairs causing mayhem in spite of heavy security presence in the hall,' he said.Speaking on the development, the leader of PDP in the state, who is also the minister for National Planning, Dr Sulaiman Abubakar, described allegations of the forum on doctored delegates' list and issue of fake delegates as baseless.Meanwhile, the exercise. He also gave violation of electoral guidelines of the party which makes express provision for voting by three elected ad-hoc delegates from each ward, as another reason.Olayinka Segelu said that participating in the primaries would amount to taking part in and encouraging illegality which is against President Goodluck Jonathan's strong commitment to the rule of law.He further said
