Jang Returns From Abroad, Denies Liver Ailment

Published by Guardian on Sat, 12 Nov 2011

PLATEAU State Governor Jonah Jang arrived the General Yakubu Gowon Airport yesterday at about 10.45am in a chartered aircraft marked 5N-BNM after the expiration of his one-month holidays abroad, saying 'I am not dead, I am hale and hearty.'Jang who said those who do not wish him well had been insinuating that his health had gone bad as he had liver problems which forced him to go abroad for transplant, urged the people to shun what he called dangerous rumours. The governor who was really looking hale and hearty was received at the airport by his wife Ngo Talatu; the Deputy Governor who held the fort for him, Ambassador Ignatius Longjang; Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mr. John Clark Dabwan; Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Shedrack Best; Commissioner for Information, Mr. Yiljap Abraham; Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Pam Ayuba and his counterpart on Political Matters, Nde Alexander Molwus; State Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Haruna Dabin and other politicians and dignitaries.Jang said: 'Let me take this opportunity to say that rumour-mongering in this state has to stop. Everybody saw me on my two legs here going to the airport. You received messages through my Director of Protocol about my activities outside there. Yet some people even put on the Internet that I have liver problems, that my son has donated liver to me and has failed and my wife will be donating her own to me later.'All I just say is that may God forgive them. By the Grace of the Almighty God, I am very sound and healthy. And you are not seeing my ghost; you are seeing Jonah Jang live. I think that we should forget about politics and face the development of Plateau State.
