Aregbesola declares monthly fitness walk for workers

All top government functionaries, including members of the Osun State Executive Council, lawmakers and the judiciary are to be involved in monthly road walks as a way of encouraging physical fitness and promoting healthy living.Governor Rauf Aregbesola, who said this at the Government House on Saturday, stated that keeping the people fit would create a stable platform for the growth of the states economy. Encouraging the entire people of the state to engage in regular physical exercises, the governor said it was the only way to keep fit.The governor had earlier led his team in a road walk tagged Walk to Live from the state secretariat, Abere to Oke Fia Government House after which a physical fitness instructor took the governor and others through a series of aerobics.Aregbesola also said the usual reference to the state as a civil servant state was not pleasant and his government would ensure that the Internally Generated Revenue of the state was brought up to N10bn on a monthly basis.He said no state could grow with the paltry sum currently generated as IGR in the state.
