Published by Nigerian Compass on Sun, 13 Nov 2011

The 2011 edition of the Ojude Oba festival in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, will remain evergreen in the memory of the indigenes of the town as Africa's fastest growing telecommunications outfit,Globacom added excitement to the annual celebration with its entertaining Glo Rock N' Rule musical concert. The concert held at the Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, was a mixed bag of the old and the new in the nation's entertainment industry as artistes drawn from across the country were on hand to entertain the people. From the Afro Juju master, Sir Shina Peters, to the weird 'Ginga Your Swagger' singer, Terry G, the audience at the concert were treated to a variety of Nigerian music just as budding artistes in the locality were given the opportunity to showcase their talents. Anchored by the ace comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka, the Ojude Oba 'Glo Rock N' Rule' concert also saw the emergence of Miss Sanni Yetunde Fatimat, a 200 level student of Tai Solarin University of Education, who was crowned Miss Ojude Oba 2011 with a cash prize of N100,000. Busari Yetunde Olayinka and Quadrillion Oluwatosin who won N75, 000 and N50, 000 respectively emerged as first and second runners up in the keenly contested beauty pageant. Besides the pageant, talented indigenes of the town who displayed outstanding singing and dancing abilities during the show were also rewarded handsomely by the giant telecommunications outfit, which gave out three brand new Nokia phones to the contestants that performed best in the dancing and the singing competitions. While Sir Shina Peters reawakened memories with old lyrics from his percussive repertoire, the pack of Eedris Abdukarim, Konga, Terry G, Katz, and Father U-Turn energized the crowd with modern dancing steps and songs. Speaking before crowning the beauty queen of the night, Mr. Akeem Kazeem, Globacom's Head of Lagos Territory said that the concert and the participation of the company in cultural activities was a way of giving back to the society and a way of demonstrating that Globacom is all about Nigeria and Nigerians.Speaking before crowning the beauty queen of the night, Mr. Akeem Kazeem, Globacom's Head of Lagos Territory said that the concert and the participation of the company in cultural activities was a way of giving back to the society and a way of demonstrating that Globacom is all about Nigeria and Nigerians.
