Ondo outlaws indiscriminate pasting of posters

Published by Guardian on Mon, 14 Nov 2011

THE Ondo State Government has warned that henceforth, jail terms await anybody caught pasting posters, bills and defacing public monuments indiscriminately in the state. It has thus set up machineries to ensure that offenders are now made to face the full wrath of the law with the setting up of offenders' courts all over the state.Making this disclosure in Akure on Sunday, while supervising the removal of posters and bills pasted on public bus-stops, bridges and buildings in Akure, the Chairman of the Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OSSAA), Mr. Kolawole Olabisi, who expressed regret over the development stated that henceforth offenders would be made to face the law.'As you can see, Ondo State is now a beautiful place to behold with the spate of developmental projects being put in place by government to make it a haven for investors and tourists. But it is sad that people can close their eyes to the beautiful developmental projects being carried out in the state by Dr. Olusegun Mimiko's administration. In spite of series of warnings, and sensitization in the mass media, they still go about pasting posters and bills on public buildings and just anywhere without giving a hoot.'One of the functions of the Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OSSAA) is to complement the massive urban renewal efforts of government by ensuring that the beautiful ambience being put in place in our state is not rubbished by anybody. Let me reiterate that there is an extant law in the state that prohibits this act and this is what we have been acquainting our people with on the mass media all along. Henceforth, anybody caught in this dastardly act would be taken to court and made to face the music.
