At 62, Tribune still relevant, resilient -Anglican Church

The African Newspapers of Nigeria (ANN) Plc, publisher of Tribune titles, has been lauded for its resilience in its 62 years of existence, even in the face of daunting challenges facing the media industry in the country.Speaking during a visit of the leaders of the St Paul's Anglican Church, Odo-Ona, Ibadan, Oyo State, to the Tribune House, Imalefalafia, Ibadan, on Monday, the chairman, Centenary Planning Committee of the church, Mr Sola Oyegbemi, acknowledged the credibility and acceptability of the Tribune, adding that it was a media organisation that could not be ignored in Nigeria and the world at large.While stating that the church and Tribune had complementary roles in making the society a better place, Oyegbemi, a renowned journalist, urged the management to continue in its good works, even as it marks its 62nd anniversary tomorrow.Noting that St. Paul's Anglican Church had weathered different storms before the attainment of its centenary status, Oyegbemi said it was time to look back and project into the future, with a view to making the church a better place of worship.Highlighting the activities lined up for the anniversary, which has as its theme: The Faith of our Fathers, Oyegbemi noted, among others, the visit to homes; free medical attention; novelty match to be anchored by a renowned football coach, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde and awards for long serving and outstanding members of the church.Receiving the leadership of the church on behalf of the Tribune management, the Editor, Nigerian Tribune, Mr Edward Dickson, pledged adequate media coverage and publicity for the anniversary, while acknowledging the effort of the churh leadership in striving to leave a worthy legacy.
