Ogun promises closer tie with Lagos for socio-economic development

The Ogun State Government has re- emphasized its readiness to collaborate with the Lagos State government in broadening its socio- economic development and improving bilateral relations towards achieving regional integration.The state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, stated this at an event commemorating the Ogun State Day at the on-going 2011 Lagos International Trade Fair, Lagos.Senator Amosun disclosed that both entities have a lot to gain through the exploitation of visible socio-economic potentials and remarkable leadership qualities of both administrators at their helms of affairs.He added that the friendly business climate and easy accessibility of land and enhanced public private partnership posture (PPP) remained the strongest selling points in the economic reform agenda.The governor, represented by his deputy, Prince Segun Adesegun, maintained that efforts were on towards the actualisation of a vibrant, research-driven and mechanised farming for industrial growth through the repositioning of the agricultural sector to boosting the revenue base of the state.'Ogun state remains a natural hub for industrialization in the country due to its geographical location and international boundary, and we shall ensure agriculture occupies a prominent position in boosting industrial revolution in the state."We have a lot to show as a highly enlightened and productive state whose development must be seen as a collective responsibility," he noted.Amosun said that the state had a lot to offer considering the abundance of natural resources, saying it has a lot to offer potential investors.He described the occasion as a unique opportunity to open up the state for would be investors.The state Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr Bimbo Ashiru, said that the state possessed immense opportunities capable of transforming it into a global industrial hub, assuring genuine investors of guaranteed high returns on their investments in the state.Ashiru noted that the residency tax law must be strictly obeyed by companies with workers living in Ogun but working in Lagos state so as to enable government generate more fund to develop infrastructure statewide.Also, President of the Lagos State Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Olufemi Deru stressed that the event would go a long way in showcasing the various economic potentials of the state which he described as the gateway to economic viability noted for positivity among its peers.
