Ijebu East distributes free eye glasses

Ijebu East LocalGovernment Area ofOgun State has distributed free eye glasses to the people of the local government.The glasses were distributed at a two-day free vision screening and treatment exercise tagged: 'Jigi Amosun,' which was organised by the local government in conjunction with OASIS Vision and the Nigeria Optometric Association, in fulfillment of one of the electioneering promises of the Governor Ibikunle Amosun.In her address at the flag-off ceremony held recently at the Town Hall, Ogbere, the council vice chairman, Chief (Mrs) Iyabode Olubukanla Bakre, stated that the programme formed part of the cardinal objectives of the present administration aimed at providing adequate health care services for the people of Ogun State.Chief Bakre, according to a release signed by the council's Senior Information Officer, Mr Tope Oyekan, declared that various development projects which would give the local government a facelift were already being executed and would soon be ready for inaugurating by the state governor, Senator Amosun, while projects on schools, health centres and rural electrification of villages were also awaiting the governor's approval for implementation.She commended the governor for the renovation works carried out at the Imuwen and Ogbere health centres and the reconstruction of a block of four classrooms each at St. Brendans Grammar School, Ogbere and Oke Imobi Community High School, Terelu-Imobi, all in Ijebu East Local Government Area.The two-day exercise which held at the Ogbere Town Hall and Ojowo Area Office featured free screening, treatment and distribution of eye glasses to the people of the council area.
