NIPCO assures stakeholders of sufficient petroleum products nationwide

THE Nigerian Independent Petroleum Company (NIPCO) Plchas assured stakeholders of availability of petroleum products during the'ember' months and beyond.Thiswas contained in a press statement issued by Alhaji Taofeek Lawal, head, Public Corporation and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Friday.Lawal quoted Mr. Venkataraman Venkatapathy, the Managing Director, NIPCO, as giving the assurance during the just concluded Oil Trading and Logistics Conference and Exhibition in Abuja.Venkatapathy said that the company made distribution of petroleum products possible through about 5,000 outlets of its partnering members and the over 100 NIPCO dealer stations across the country.According to him, no efforts will be sparedto ensure that the company remains in the forefront of making sure that the monster of fuel scarcity, especially in the northern part of the country, does not rear its ugly head again.He said that with 1,000 outlets of its partnering members across the country and the guaranteed supply from the company s depot, fuel supply across the country would get better.Venkatapathy assured that NIPCO would remain committed to steady and uninterrupted supply of fuel to all parts of the country, adding that special attention was being given to the northern part with a view to improving supply for the benefit of all.He noted that the company was an integrated downstream player with a diversified portfolio inoil and gas.According to him, the company's pioneering role in providing avenues for motorist to power their vehicles through the construction of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a vehicular fuel is already attracting positive comments from stakeholders.The managing director explained that the company, through a Joint Venture Scheme (JVS) with Nigerian Gas Company (NGC) ' a subsidiary of theNNPC, has completed six CNG stations in Benin, Edo and converted 250 taxi cabs to run onCNG.'Aside from inaugurating the CNG stations in Benin, some incentive schemes were also introduced alongside to reduce the burden of installing the kits in vehicles.
