EPL Table: Odds, Game Lines and Predictions for Week 17 of 2014-15 Season

Published by Bleacher Report on Thu, 18 Dec 2014

The holiday period is one of the busiest parts of the Premier League schedule, and the teams still competing in the Capital One Cup will hardly have the chance to catch their breath before Week 17 kicks off on Saturday.Liverpool and Arsenal will take part in this week's marquee fixture, but punters will find plenty more interesting matchups and intriguing odds in some of the other matches. Here are the full game lines for Matchday 17, courtesy of Oddsshark:The current Premier League standings:Southampton's Slump Will ContinueAfter a hot start to the season, Southampton are winless in their last five Premier League matches, have lost four in a row and were just knocked out of the Capital One Cup by Sheffield United, a League One side.To say the Saints have cooled down would be an understatement. The free-flowing attacking side fans marvelled at two months ago has all but vanished, and as shared by BBC Sport, manager Ronald Koeman understands all too well his players are over-complicating things:Everton were given a huge boost ahead of their 3-1 win against Queens Park Rangers with the return of Steven Naismith, and the Toffees clearly benefited from having the Scot in their squad, per the Liverpool Echo's Greg O'Keeffe:Everton appear to be hitting their stride at just the right time, powered by the return of Naismith. Southampton are winless in six matches. And yet Oddsshark has the Saints as the favourites in this match.Punters, enjoy.Liverpool and Arsenal: Consistently InconsistentIn many ways, Arsenal and Liverpool have had similar seasons. Both squads came into the season with clear weaknesses and high expectations, and after suffering one or two keys injuries, all notions of consistency went out the window. The Gunners have somewhat turned things around in the past two weeks, with three wins in four matches, but a solid performance against Newcastle United doesn't necessarily mean the same will happen at Anfield.According to Fox Soccer, Theo Walcott could be fit to return to the squad in time for Sunday's match:The Reds sit a disappointing 11th in the standings, one spot below rivals Everton, and like Arsenal, they'll come into this match having decisively won their final outing, against AFC Bournemouth in the Capital One Cup.Of course, a 3-1 win over a lower-league side shouldn't inspire that much confidence, and the hosts will be without the suspended Mario Balotelli, via Sky Sports:Still, it's dangerous to assume Arsenal will just dominate a slumping Liverpool squad, and the opposite holds true as well. Neither club has been consistent enough to warrant bettingin fact, a draw would almost be poetic.Follow @ReverschPass
