Sports no longer for dropouts

COMMISIONER for Lands and Housing, Oyo State, Ajiboye Omodewu, says sportspersons are now millionaires and not droputs they were thought of in those days.Omodewu said this yesterday at the fourth Inter House Sports competition of Bishop Akinyele Grammar School, Oke Are, Ibadan held at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan.The commissioner thus advised parents and teachers to encourage students in sporting exercises, saying the state government will not relent in promoting sports at all levels.Principal of the school, Rev. Mabadeje said exposure to sports is one of the school's mission statements.''We thus inculcate in them the spirit of healthy competition while helping to develop and exercise their mental capacities for excellent performance in academics.''Akinyele House led the competition on 190 points, Akinfenwa House came second on 175 points.Both School and Olajide Houses came third and fourth on 148 and 123 points respectively.
