The police in Lagos State have begun investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of a Ghanaian commercial bus conductor, who was killed by one of his passengers, in an incident that has become a source of worry to the police in the state.Christopher Asuquo, the suspect must by now be musing over the death of his bus conductor, who died in a situation that could have been avoided by both the suspect and the deceased.Asuquo, 30, is at the moment, a murder suspect at the homicide section of the Lagos State Police Command, Panti, over an incident that happened around Kirikiri area of the state, a few days ago.Crime and Security gathered that the suspect was returning home late in the night from his brothers place of work, around Kirikiri, in Apapa area of the state and had instructed the conductor of his bus to refund his money, when a clash ensued .Asuquo had reportedly demanded that the deceased conductor identified as Mr Kwasi, a Ghanaian, should refund his transport fare to no avail. He allegedly shoved and slapped Kwasi, who slumped in the process and died shortly after he was taken to a nearby hospital at Ajegunle, Lagos .The suspect, while speaking with Crime and Security blamed frustration and lack of control over his temper for the death . He stated that he had allowed the frustration of the day to get the better of him.The suspect, while speaking with Crime and Security, in pidgin English, narrated thus I be welder apprentice, and na two months I done dey learn the work for Oshodi, he added,That day wen this thing happen, I don close from work, I come go visit my brother wen dey sell for beer parlour for Kirikiri. I come stay with my brother till around 11 oclock. I come tell am say I dey go my house for Wilma.He further narrated thatI enter the bus from Mile 2, but the first bus na people wey den they call one chance, na them come collect all my money and my handset (mobile phone). So I come enter another bus, vex full my mind. But the bus wey I enter come stop. The driver say the bus get problem. We come down push am after him put fuel for inside, he no to tay na so the motor come get another fault, we come down, push am again, but the motor refused to start, na so we come push am tire before the motor start.According to him, the events caused his anger to rise . The motor move small he come stop, me I come tell driver say wetin dey happen, the conductor na him dey tell the driver wetin he dey do. I tell conductor say make him give me my N50 if the motor no fit start, say if he dey tell the diver wetin to do, why him no go start the motor.The suspect also added that tthe conductor got him incensed, when he stated that ,Na so him come tell me say make I no disturb am, I come vex because the thing wey those one chance people do me don make me vex, na so I come carry that vex come jack the conductor, I come slap am. As I slap am, he come fall down, I come rush go carry am but he no fit stand up, police come; na so them carry the conductor go hospital. The police come arrest me.The suspect has in the above statements in pidgin English, blamed the whole situation on his ordeal in the hands of commercial bus robbers, whom he claimed had prior to the death of the Ghanaian , robbed him of his money and mobile phone and the bad condition of the vehicle, which he had joined.A police source at Panti, who spoke with the Crime and Security, under the condition of anonymity, said they had begun investigations into the incident and added that. The conductor is a Ghanaian and according to the bus driver, he just started work that same day he died. the police source also stated that The conductor died , shortly after he was taken to the hospital. He also advised thatPeople should learn to control their anger and frustration. The case is being investigated and the corpse is in a public mortuary. The suspect will soon be charged to court.The image maker in charge of the state police command, Frank Mba, confirmed the incident to Crime and Security and added that the Ghana embassy will be contacted before any further action could be taken .
