Oriade boosts police security system

The Caretaker Chairman, Oriade Local Government Area in Osun State, Mr Taiwo Fatiregun, has taken a bold step to boost security in his council as he laid the foundation of a fence round the police station at Ijebu-Jesa town in order to ensure that the police could be pro-active on security challenges in the council area.He stated that the erection of the fence would go a long way to protect police officers working in the station, while other people moving in and out of the police station would also be protected from hoodlums who daily terrorised the community.Honourable Fatiregun who recalled an occasion when armed robbers attacked the community, said that his personal assistant narrowly escaped being hit by bullets from the hoodlums in front of the police station with a target to hit the Divisional Police Officer, a three-star officer, I.M.Doga, in his office.The interim chairman, however, assured that the project would be completed within two weeks.While speaking, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) said that the erection of the fence would further enhance good performance of police duty while people's life would also be protected, adding that within a short notice to stakeholders in Oriade Local Government Council, areas there were supporters to the programme including the Tippers Association, Welders Association, among others.The two bankers from Insight Micro-finance Bank, Prince Koya Arojojoye and his counterpart from Micro Finance Bank, Iwoye Ijesa, commended Honourable Taiwo Fatiregun on security challenges in Oriade Local Government Council areas, while the DPO was parted at the back for a good initiative on the fence project as they called on other banks, companies to emulate the good gesture.The Vice-Chairman, Oriade Local Government Council, Honourable Ajimotokun Solomon,representative Tipper association, representative of Oriade Youth Empowerment Programme commended the duo of Honourable Fatiregun and the police boss.Moreover, Honourable Fatiregun had promised to supply bullet proof vest to the police as he estimated the cost of fencing of the police station, supply of bullet proof and other security gardgets at N15 million Naira,apart from donation of materials from stakeholders in the council areas.
