Alekuwodo residents want quick rehabilitation of roads

Published by Tribune on Wed, 16 Nov 2011

Since Osun State government under the leadership of Mr Rauf Aregbesola instructed the state road Maintenance Agency and the Ministry of Work to start the rehabilitation of all bad roads in every part of the state, residents of Alekuwodo community in Osogbo have called on the agency to list their community in its operation.Residents of Alekuwodo said this call to duty message for the appropriate organs of the government became imperative due to the bad state of road network in the community.According to Mr. Wale Obisesan, it is always a painful experience driving on the roads in Alekuwodo area of Osogbo, stressing that 'what we have on the road could not be described as pot holes, but gully erosion, which could send any vehicle owner who does not take time to manouvre his/her way on the road to the hospital.Obisesan explained that as a resident of the community who had been there for years, he was not happy that a popular community like Alekuwodo with big population in Osogbo city could wear such an ugly look.According to him, 'it is sad that a community like Alekuwodo could be like this. We understand the fact that Alekuwodo area is prone to flood which has been responsible for regular or incessant damage of the road, but we also appreciate the fact that Governor Aregbesola has taken some proactive measures to prevent flood disaster in the state. Because of this, we are appealing to the agency given the mandate to repair roads in Osun State to expedite action on Alekuwodo road in order to make life better for the residents of the community,' he stated.Mr Goke Ogunkeyede also tasked the state government to make sure that Alekuwodo roads were repaired, saying this is dry season when good work should be done on the road to improve standard of living for the residents.
