Ondo condemns call for imposition of state of emergency

The Ondo State government, on Tuesday, condemned the call for a state of emergency in the state following the kidnapping of the mother of business mogul, Jimoh Ibrahim, by unknown gunmen.The Commissioner for Information, Ranti Akerele, while reacting to a call for state of emergency, said the state had always been in peace and was in peace even after the alleged kidnapping of Mrs. Mafe Jimoh.He said the report by a national daily (not the Nigerian Tribune) smacks irresponsibility, insensitivity and falsehood template on a tiny strand of truth.But the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has blamed the state government for the insecurity in the state, saying the development was not only evil, but sadistic, comprehensively wicked and unacceptable.A statementby the Director of Publicity of the party, Ayo Fadaka, alleged that the act was to disorientate, disorganise and discourage Barrister Ibrahim in his quest to join others inleading the party to victory in the forthcoming elections in the state.
