Nigeria's economic growth projections attainable ' Analysts

Plans by the Federal Government of Nigeria to transform the countrys economy into a competitive one by the year 2020 can be attained if strategic agencies implement stipulated policies judiciously, financial analysts have said.According to analysts, though the country has been faced with series of economy dampening occurrences, it still has the wherewithal to thrive provided business leaders are keen to make the economy work.The Business Development Manager, Liongen Financial Limited, Mr. Chibueze Anogwam, in a statement noted that economic growth in Nigeria was recording considerable improvements.Despite the insecurity that has bedevilled the nation in recent years, the growth projections of Nigerias economy has never been as high as it is today, he said.The FG has succeeded in maintaining prudent macroeconomic policies, strengthening the financial institutions and initiating reforms that are guaranteed to transform the economy. These reforms, assisted by the petro-dollar, have strengthened the growth of the Gross Domestic Product.Anogwam stated that the countrys economy had witnessed the influx of investors in recent years, adding that existing ones were expanding their reach in the country.He noted that the aspect of the millennium development goals, which centred on developing a global partnership for development in the country could be achieved following the initiatives carried out by public and private firms like the Central Bank of Nigeria, Bureau of Statistics and Coca-cola Nigeria, among others.He said, Subsequently, an increasing number of investors are coming into the country while existing ones have moved quickly to invest more and consolidate their hold. The result is that the nations economy is being closely driven by this renaissance.For instance, the Nigerian Bottling Company and a few others have invested in growing the Nigerian economy in ways that should be seen as exemplary for both existing and future companies.The Chief Executive Officer, Universal Anchor Limited, a research, training and consulting firm, Mr. Sesan Awonoiki told our correspondent that Nigeria had an emerging market that was capable of competing with other leading economies should the government implement policies that were workable.He stressed that the countrys economy was at the verge of blossoming, but urged the various agencies that had impact on economic growth to ensure they continued with policies that would better the lot of Nigerians and Nigeria.He said, We (Nigeria) are now being positioned as a country for growth towards the year 2020 as you know where we need to be. The main thing now is for us to get it right, and when we make mistakes, it is important that we correct our errors without delay.
