NFF congratulates Galadima, Yobo

THE Nigeria Football Federation yesterday applauded the Federal Government for National Awards conferred on its former president, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima and the Captain of the Super Eagles, Joseph Yobo.Galadima, one of the most respected sports administrators in the land, was honoured with the Member of the Federal Republic (MFR) Award while Yobo, who has been representing Nigeria at senior international level for the past 10-and-half years, was conferred with the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) Award.'We are very happy for the Awards conferred on these patriots by His Excellency, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR.They thoroughly deserve these Awards as they have both contributed immensely to the development of Nigerian football, nay Nigerian sports.'Alhaji Galadima is an astute administrator of repute and many people still commend his contributions to Nigerian football several years after he left the NFF.Yobo is an icon, having won a record-equalling Nigerian senior cap only on Tuesday against Zambia', said NFF President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari.Galadima was President of the Nigeria Football Federation between 2002 and 2006 and it was during his administration that Nigeria adopted the FIFA Statutes as the rule-book for the running of the game in the country.Joseph Yobo was on Tuesday honoured by the NFF for his record-equalling feat, as he was presented with an all-glass plaque by NFF President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari before the international friendly match against Zambia at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna. The Super Eagles won the match 2-0.
