All set for Lagos speaker's cup

THE stage is set for the commencement of the fifth edition of the Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker's Cup soccer competition with fifty local government and developmental council areas signifying their intention to participate.Disclosing this yesterday at the hallowed Chamber of the House was the Adhoc Chairman of the house committee on youth and sports development, Honourable Lawrence Babatunde Ayeni during the draws for the competition which will attracts 1.6million naira as prized money.Ayeni announced that the competition will commence with the priliminary stage on November 22 to 23 and November 30 fixed for the round of 32 while December 7 has been fixed for the round of 16, saying that dates have not been fixed for the quarterfinals and semi finals but that the final will hold on December 16 .He also announced six venues for the matches and they are; Agege Stadium, Epe Mini Stadium, Alade 1&2 playing ground, TTC Ifako Ijaye playing ground and Onikan Stadium.Ayeni who warned against the use of professional footballers during the competitions said the committee will not take it lightly any local government found guilty saying that.''Such an idea will deprive the real grassroot player the opportunity to exhibit his talent since the Speaker's cup is mainly for grassroot player in order to discover more hidden talent for the state and the country at large.
