Lawmaker tasks colleagues on community development

Political office holders have been urged not to take issues affecting the development of communities under their jurisdictions with levity.Honourable Olusegun Busola Adeyeni, representing Ife East State Constituency at the Osun State House of Assembly, gave the advise while redeeming one of his promises made to the development of his constituency through human empowerment.Adeyeni, while performing the distribution of various working items to artisans as well as the commissioning of his state constituency office at Arubidi in Ile-Ife recently, stressed that, "I did this in order to fulfill my promise that, I will try and alleviate the suffering of the people within my community, I mean my jurisdiction."Adeyeni stated further, "The distribution of these working items to the recipients is done in order to support the six integral plan of the of the state governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, that poverty should be abolished in the land, through acquisition of human empowerment"."The governor has a plan for Osun State as well as for Ife indigenes, and this made me to corroborate the effort of the state government by distributing these items for the unemployed youths who are now artisans in the making".The lawmaker who urged the beneficiaries of the first batch to use the items judiciously and handle them with care, assured that he would not relent in looking for a way of making life bearable for the people of his constituency.Speaking with Community News at the occasion, the Oluomo of the Source, Chief Gbenga Owolabi, charged politicians in power that , "this type of a thing should be emulated by all politicians who are either appointed or elected to any position in order to distribute the dividends of democracy down to the less privileged people in our society".Owolabi, who was a former Chairman, Ife East Local Government area of the state, commended the bold step taken by the lawmaker for his magnanimity in distributing the working tools for the awardees.The items distributed were, tailoring machines, bricklaying equipments, carpentry utensils, hairdressing hardware, electrical appliances, grinding machines, helmets as well as barbing utensils.The distribution ceremony was witnessed by the cream of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) members across the state as well as traditional rulers in the area among others.
