NFF officials still incompetent ' Oliseh

Published by Punch on Fri, 18 Nov 2011

Former captain of the Super Eagles Sunday Oliseh has said the way the Nigeria Football Federation officials organised the last interview process for the vacant national coach job again revealed incompetence on the part on those running football in the country. The process produced Stephen Keshi to replace Samson Siasia after the Nigeria team failed to qualify for the 2012 Africa Nations Cup in Gabon/Equatorial Guinea. The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder, who spoke with our correspondent from his base in Belgium on Thursday, said he is, however, moving on fine even though he lost out of the process. He said, "Well it is all good; I offered my service to my country. All we had to do was propose to the Federation and leave the rest to them and that is exactly what I did."But is that the way to select a coach for the national team' It was a shame that they urged us all to submit our proposal even though they had made up their minds ahead of time. It is shame to do that that; to select without giving us any opportunity to defend our submissions."It simply shows how things are still done here. It shows how incompetent those managing our football are and rubs down on the entire football system." Oliseh, Keshi, Daniel Amokachi were some of those that entered the race to coach the Eagles last month. But despite his distaste for the system, the ex-defensive midfielder said could still give the Eagles job a try when another opportunity comes."Lets see how it goes God keeping us all alive. Until then lets just watch and see things go with the Federation," he said.
