Dala tennis championship to gulp N16.7m

The Dala Hard Court Tennis Championship in Kano serves off on November 19 with organisers budgeting a N16.7m for the annual event in its silver jubilee edition.Chairman, organising committee of the event, Alhaji Bashari Gumel journalists on Wednesday that only N5m has been received from one of the sponsors, Fidelity Bank Plc.Gumel explained that other sponsors like the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Plc had promised to release more fund on Friday.He pointed out that the Nigeria Tennis Federation had approved the hosting of the championship from November 19 to 27, adding that Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso is expected to be the special guest of honour at the closing ceremony."This coincides with the silver jubilee anniversary of the championship," Gumel said."The preliminaries will hold from November 19 to 21 while the tournament proper is from November 21 to 26."The championship will feature mens single, womens single and men double events.He added that the NTF would invite 20 men and 10 women to compete in the tournament.
