Rivers APC alleges plot to scuttle membership revalidation

By Mike Odiegwu, Port HarcourtThe Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday said there were plans to scuttle its proposed membership registration and revalidation.It alleged that those behind the plot planned to use the courts.Speaking in Port Harcourt last night, the partys Acting Caretaker Committe Chairman in the state, Issac Abbot-Ogbobula, wondered why some aggrieved members were desperate to stop an exercise that had not taken off.He claimed that a judicial pronouncement will be given to bar the Rivers chapter of the APC from participating or conducting or going on with the allegedly proposed registration and revalidation of membership exercise.Read Also: PDP: Why Buhari, APC must learn from US election crisisThe party leader cited suit instituted by some aggrieved party members against APC leadership to buttress his claim.He said: Let us put the record straight, APC in Nigeria does not have any intention of conducting revalidation and registration of membership exercise on 12th January, 2021, APC Nigeria is not a secret cult, every major programme it conducts is always in the public space and domain, there is no such announcement, advertorial or publication.According to Abbot-Ogbobula, the party had petitioned the State Chief Judge over the matter.We have duly submitted the petition to the Chief Judge of Rivers state since Friday, 7th of January 2021, we have served a petitionand it has been uploaded as required by the rules of the court.
