Houses Burnt In Rivers As Gang Members Engage In Supremacy War

<blockquote>The police have arrested a suspected cultist following a clash by rival groups at the Mile one market axis of Diobu in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.<br><br>The police further said that about two houses were burnt during the clash that created panic among traders and residents of the area.<br><br>Sources said policemen arrested one of the suspected cultists, who ran into their station when he was being pursued by a rival gang.<br><br>It was gathered that the fleeing cultist that ran into the station and was taken into police custody sustained gunshot injuries.<br><br>But the invaders were said to have fled following heavy presence of armed policemen.<br><br><br> The invaders were said to have traced their rivals to their houses and reportedly set fire on the buildings, leaving many including traders running for their lives.<br><br>When contacted, spokesman of the State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni confirmed the incident describing it as a supremacy battle.<br><br>Omoni, a Superintendent of Police (SP), said that the command launched an investigation to unravel the cause of the incident with a view to apprehending the fleeing suspects.<br><br>He said: Though the matter has nothing to do with the police but we are investigating. One person has already been arrested and we are on their trail.<br><br>At the end of the day we will round them up and they will face the weight of the law. It was an inter-cult war and supremacy clash that resulted in the carnage.They burnt their rival houses.
