Gunmen kidnap one, shot retired teacher in Kwara

From Adekunle Jimoh, IlorinGunmen suspected to be herdsmen have kidnapped one person in Kwara state.The gunmen also shot one other person, who is said to be in critical condition.The incident was said to have happened on Wednesday evening between Obbo-Aiyegunle and Osi, Ekiti local government area of the state.The victims are said to be of the same parents and are named Julius and Jacob Olarewaju.Mr. Jacob Olarewaju is a retired teacher of the Federal Government College, Omu-Aran, it was gathered.The Olanrewajus were said to be traveling from Obbo-Aiyegunle on the said day to Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state to check on their brother who is recuperating in a hospital.The hoodlums, it was gathered allegedly attacked their victims vehicle and kidnapped Julius, while Jacob fled into the bush.Read Also:Gunmen kill PDP councillorship candidate in DeltaIt was said that the assailants allegedly shot at Julius as he fled the scene and that he feigned dead, following which the hoodlums left him writhing in pains.It was also gathered that the kidnappers have been having smooth operations in the area because of the parlous state of Obbo-Aiyegunle-Osi road.The suspected gunmen, it was gathered as at the time of filing this report, are yet to contact the family of the victims for ransom.Speaking on the matter, Aare of Obbo-Aiyegunle Justice Joseph Gbadeyan (rtd) said that residents of the community had met over the matter.Justice Gbadeyan, a former acting Chief Judge of Kwara State urged the state government to fix the dilapidated road to rescue the community members from the hands of miscreants. When contacted, police spokesperson, Ajayi Okasanmi denied knowledge of the incident.
