Ogun PDP chieftain denies suspendingmembers

Published by The Nation on Sat, 16 Jan 2021

A chieftain of the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Bola Odumosu (a.k.a Oko Opo) has disowned a report purportedly recommending the suspension of three members of the State Executive Committee and State Working Committee.Odumosu, who was named as the Chairman of the purported disciplinary committee set up by the former Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Mr. Kayode Bamgbose (a.k.a Imisi), said at no time did his committee meet or recommend the suspension of the State Acting Chairman, Barr. Boladale Sanni; the State Secretary, Prince Adeleke Shittu and the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Oyejide Sunkanmi (a.k.a Suco). This revelation has exposed the lies and shenanigans being orchestrated by one Segun Seriki who had been expelled from the Party by the Prince Uche Secondus-led National Executive Committee of the PDP since 2018.Hon. Odumosu made the disclosure in a statement he issued on Thursday.According to Odumosu, there was never a time his committee met or recommended any member of the party for suspension.Rather, he called for genuine reconciliation in the party. The statement reads: In reaction to the above information, I want to categorically state that the disciplinary committee under my Chairmanship has never recommended any suspension against any member of the state executive committee of our great party, PDP. All we are preaching is reconciliation between all the factions of our Party for the benefit of all, Odumosu said.Bamgbose was suspended by the State Executive Committee of the party on the 9th of November, 2020, alongside five others for anti-party activities.Their ill-advised and belated move is seen by political pundits as a feeble reaction to their subsisting suspension which they have tried unsuccessfully to reverse.
