Aregbesolas ex-commissioners urge sack of SDP member from APC registration panel

By Toba Adedeji, OsogboEx-commissioners and aides during the administration of Rauf Aregbesola as the Osun State governor and 13 other chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state have opposed alleged inclusion of a Social Democratic Party (SDP) member in the APC registration committee.The letter dated January 30 was addressed to Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, the chairman of APC National Caretaker Committee.The letter was signed by Osun APC Caretaker Deputy Chairman,Alhaji Azeez Adesiji,Kolapo Alimi (ex-commissioner for Local Governmentand Chieftaincy Affairs), Biyi Odunlade (ex-commissioner for Youth and Sports),Idowu Korede (ex-commissioner for Environment),Engr. Salami (ex-commissioner for Works,Nureni Adebisi (former member House of Assembly).Others areAkintoyese Ademola,Gbenga Akano, Gbenga Awosode,Sadiq Olajide, Muyideen Olatejuand Alhaji Busari Ibraheem.The chieftains copied Chief Adebisi Akande, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, SenatorAdenrele Orolowo andPrince Adegboyega Famodun, the state caretaker chairman.The letter said: We write as genuine members and stakeholders of our beloved party, the All Progressives Congress, Osun State chapter, to register our displeasure and to formally complain about the inclusion of Tayo Adewakun as a member of APC Registration Committee in Osun State.The ground of our complaint is that Adewakun has never been a member of our party, APC. Our findings show that Adewakun is a relative of Otunba Iyiola Omisore and up till this moment, he is still a card-carrying member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and yet to renounce same.The generality of the members of our party and the stakeholders are wondering why a chieftain of the SDP will now be saddled with such a sensitive responsibility of registering our members, most especially when Adewakun has not renounced the membership of the SDP and he is not a member of our party.We equally want to complain about the three slots allotted to our state, instead of the seemingly expected seven slots. Our ground for this complaint is that from the list of the registration committee for the 36 states and the FCT, each of the states has a seven-member committee and that presupposes that each of the states should also be entitled to seven slots.They demanded that the name of Adewakun be replaced with a committed member of the APC and without further delay increase the slots of Osun from three to seven to correct the obvious imbalance.
