Woman petitions IGP, alleges threat to life

By Nicholas Kalu, AbujaThe Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered an investigation into a petition by one Rev Ijeoma Emeribe, who alleged threat to her life and family by some persons said to be linked to top government officials, over land in Abuja.Emeribe, in the petition sent through her lawyers, Able Hands Legal Services, alleged that the said persons unlawfully used the police to criminally intimidate, cause grievous bodily harm, trespassed on her land and willfully damaged her property.She said she purchased a 50 hectare landed property in Lugbe, Abuja, through her duly registered company, Tenache Lounge Limited, but that they had continued to trespass on the property and damage the structures built on it.Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, who acknowledged receipt of the petition has ordered that the matter be investigated and reported to him.Adamu in a response in a letter with number 2000/IGP/SEC/ABJ/VOL 510/73, ordered that the investigation.Read Also:#EndSARS:Police will never allow violent protests again, IGP vowsThe letter was signed by Principal Staff Officer to the IGP DCP Idowu Owohunwa.The womans son, Remare Alex, stressed that their lives were in danger and they had to report the matter to the IGP.We feel very threatened and we want the public to know, Alex said.He said the said land was purchased early this year and paid in full and started fencing it, but the said person came and pulled down the fence.He said the matter was reported to the Zone 7 police station.He said they continued work again and the people came back and pulled down the structures they were putting up, and they had to report the matter again and write the petition.He said they also reported to the CRU Unit at the Force Headquarters, who ordered that no one gets into the property but the said person defied the order and went in to destroy structures on the land with bulldozers.
