A significant portion of Cuba's available drinking water is lost through its leaky and antiquated pipelines -- more than 50 percent, by some estimates. From a report: In recent years, infrastructure problems have been compounded by droughts and rising temperatures. For much of the population, running water is available only sporadically -- in some cases, for one or two hours a day, every few days.
