Published by The Nation on Mon, 22 Feb 2021

By Sam AnokamUS-BASED Nigerian singer and songwriter, Azeez Agbabiaka, aka El Zeez, is currently making strides in the world of new wave Afrobeat. The multi-talented rapper has shared a piece of his thought process with his fans via his anticipated five-track debut Extended Play (E.P), Letter To The Street.According to El Zeez, Letter To The Street holds a distinct sound so unique and refreshing it brings a breath of fresh air on the highly-competitive and ever-evolving Nigerian music circuit. With the EP, El Zeezs international appeal comes to bear on the calibre of his craft. Speaking on the new project, Zeex says that being his first, he desires to bare his soul out to his fans so they know what he is all about.Letter To The Street, the artiste explains covers a myriad of topics, from the emotional to the motivational all aimed to inspire his listeners and preach a message of unity and progress.Ive always believed in content and conscious music because I believe Im not just a musician but a messenger. The goal is to reach peoples souls and not just make them move their bodies. Music should be able to appeal to the minds of the people and not just make them dance. Music is powerful and one must be careful with the kind of message we dish out to the people. I am guided by that principle, he said. The EP features a collaboration with fellow rapper, Chinko Ekun while production credits for the body of works include the highly rated beatsmith, Tyemmy, and fellow Nigerian beatmaker Mykh, while mixing and mastering credit goes to Tyemmy. My chances of staying relevant are quite bright as long as I continue to be consistent and Im prepared to release quality materials. The industry changes every day and the secret to longevity are to release music that fans can enjoy for years to come. We call this evergreen music. I plan on doing just that so that my career will remain relevant, he added.
