Delta CP sacks top officers over rising crime wave

By Okungbowa Aiwerie, AsabaAn Area Commander and two Divisional Police Officers have been removed from office over rising crime rate in the State, Delta Police Commissioner, Mr. Mohammed Ali has said.Ali said any police officer in whose jurisdiction records more than three robbery or kidnapping cases will be moved from that area with immediate effect.Ali expressed disappointment over upsurge of criminal activities in the state, stressing he would not allow that to continue.He said all area commanders and DPOs must be on their toes and ensure their areas of jurisdiction are well policed.Mr. Ali who spoke with reporters Tuesday in Asaba said the DPOs of Warri, Sapele and C Division in Asaba were removed from office.He warned that police officers who fail to police their areas effectively will also join the league of those to be removed.He said all police officers in the state must work to ensure that hoodlums and all criminal elements are brought to book, noting that he will make the state unbearable for criminals.He identified the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as the syndicate terrorizing the state, adding and that plans have reached advanced stage to chase them out of the state.He identified parts of Ugbolu road in Oshimili North LGA as hot spot, adding that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have started collecting taxes from villagers in the vicinity.The State Police boss said his men are already taking charge of areas such as Sapele and appealed to Deltans to cooperate with the police to make Delta state a crime free state.On extortion, he warned police officers to desist from such acts as he has zero tolerance for corruption among police officers.His words, I never sent anyone to the road to collect money from drivers.
