<p><img src="https://static1.businessinsider.com/image/60339663bed5c50011a2bc53-2126/trump impeached.jpg" border="0" alt="trump impeached" data-mce-source="Getty"></p><p></p><bi-shortcode id="summary-shortcode" data-type="summary-shortcode" class="mceNonEditable" contenteditable="false">Summary List Placement</bi-shortcode><p>The House Oversight Committee reissued a subpoena for former President Donald Trump's accounting firm last week, House counsel Doug Letter said in a <a href="https://www.politico.com/f/'id=00000177-f548-d750-a77f-f5f96ff30000">filing</a> on Tuesday. </p><p>Congressional investigators are working to get eight years of Trump's tax records from Mazars USA.</p><p>The House's initial subpoena was rejected by the Supreme Court in July, <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2021/03/02/trump-financial-records-472959">Politico</a> reported. However, last week, the US Supreme Court, after <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2021/02/18/politics/supreme-court-trump-taxes-vance/index.html" data-analytics-module="body_link" data-analytics-post-depth="40" data-uri="956dbb7f5c3991705ab164ec6185ad92">stalling for nearly four months,</a> rejected <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/supreme-court-trump-tax-returns-manhattan-disrict-attorney-vance-2021-2" data-analytics-module="body_link" data-analytics-post-depth="20" data-uri="8efb88e1dd2877d29a65e60f6f015676">Trump's efforts</a> to keep his tax returns hidden from the Manhattan District Attorney. </p><p>For the past five years, Trump <a href="https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2016/sep/28/tammy-baldwin/donald-trump-only-major-party-nominee-40-years-not/">refused to release</a> his tax records and has gone to great lengths to try and keep them a secret. </p><p>Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. launched an investigation into Trump's financial records in 2017. </p><p>That Supreme Court ruling in Vance's favor has made it easier for the Oversight Committee to reissue its subpoena.</p><p>Democrats have said that Trump's tax records were necessary so they could come up with financial disclosure legislation for future administrations., Politico reported. They suspect that his tax filings would show potential conflicts of interest and inappropriate foreign ties. </p><p>"For more than 22 months, the Committee has been denied key information needed to inform legislative action to address the once-in-a-generation ethics crisis created by former President Trump's unprecedented conflicts of interest," Rep.
