REA urges Obudu to put solar plant to productive use

By John Ofikhenua, AbujaManaging Director of Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Engr. Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad, has urged the people of Obudu community in Cross River to put the commissioned 60kPw solar hybrid mini-grid project to productive use.He spoke at the commissioning ceremony in Obudu Ranch Resort in Obanliku Local Government Area.According to him, the project is planned to change the socio-economic status of the Obudu people.He charged them to take full advantage of the intervention with clean and reliable energy to impact their growth.He said: To the great people of this community, be aware that you are now part of a growing global community leveraging mini-grid for socio-economic growth. I urge you to use the electricity to its fullest advantage.READ ALSO:REA harvest of projects stimulates rural economiesAhmad explained to the beneficiary that as mandated by the Federal Government, the REA is the implementing agency with the responsibility of powering unserved and underserved communities across Nigeria using off-grid solutions.He noted that the project has been successfully deployed under the Capital Appropriation of the Federal Government.The REA boss said such projects, as planned by the Federal Government, are being deployed across all the zones of our great nation.These projects, he said, are testaments of the Federal Governments resolve to improve energy infrastructure across Nigeria, especially in unserved and underserved communities.
