2027: Opposition Coalition Will CollapseTanko Yakasai

Published by Nairaland on Mon, 07 Jul 2025

The Director-General of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), Dr. Umar Tanko Yakasai, has dismissed the emerging opposition coalition aiming to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections, calling it a non-starter. Speaking in Abuja, he said the coalition lacks credibility due to the past failures of its members, who mismanaged the country when they held power.

Yakasai argued that Nigerians will not trust these political figures again, as they are part of the same group that allegedly squandered $16 billion meant for power and were involved in the Halliburton scandal. He maintained that Tinubu is working to clean up the mess created by the PDP-led administrations.

He highlighted the removal of the fuel subsidy and unification of forex rates as key early achievements of Tinubus administration, saying these bold moves have helped stabilize Nigeria's economy. He urged Nigerians to be patient as reforms take time and promised that the benefits will become evident with continued support and a possible second term for Tinubu.

He also downplayed fears of Nigeria becoming a one-party state due to defections to the APC, saying democracy allows freedom of association, and defections happen on both sides.

Source:
https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/06/opposition-coalition-will-collapse-tanko-yakasai/
