Apple to block your FaceTime calls if it detects nud!ty under new update

Published by Linda Ikeji on Tue, 08 Jul 2025

Apples upcoming iOS 26 will introduce a controversial feature that automatically pauses FaceTime calls if nudity is detected even if its simply someone starting to undress. The system, part of Apples expanded Communication Safety tools, was first noticed by X user @iDeviceHelpus and reported by 9to5Mac. When triggered, a message appears saying:Audio and video are paused because you may be showing something sensitive. If you feel uncomfortable, you should end the call.Users then have the option to either resume the call or hang up.The feature was initially thought to only apply to child accounts, helping protect minors online. However, reports indicate it also activates during adult-to-adult FaceTime calls though its unclear if this is deliberate or a glitch.Reactions online have ranged from jokes to outrage. One Reddit user wrote, Long distance couples in shambles, while another quipped, Well thats one way to end a work meeting early.Apple says detection happens entirely on-device using machine learning, meaning the company does not see or store any video content. Because the photos and videos are analyzed on your childs device, Apple doesnt receive an indication that nudity was detected, the company explained.iOS 26 is currently in beta and will be officially released this autumn, likely September, for iPhone 11 and later models. The post Apple to block your FaceTime calls if it detects nud!ty under new update appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
