A Look At South Africa's F1 Grand Prix Bid Venues (Pictures)

Since the news was shared that South Africa hopes to bring the F1 back to its shores in 2027, <b>Cape Town and Johannesburg have been fighting about who would have the privilege of hosting the race.</b><br><br>It's been over three decades since the F1 engines have roared on African tarmac but the cities are getting their fists out and staking their claim on the potential race.<br><br><b>The competition is between two tracksa street circuit in Cape Town and the historic Kyalami race track outside of Johannesburg (where the race was last held in 1993).</b><br><br>Committee member Mlimandlela Ndamase told AFP <b>they will choose the winning bid in the third quarter of 2025.</b><br><br>&quot;The Grand Prix is definitely coming in 2027, no doubt about that. <b>Whether it is Cape Town or Joburg, we do not care as long as the Grand Prix is coming to South Africa,</b> Sports Minister Gayton McKenzie.<br><br>While a street circuit could be very exciting the challenging Kyalami circuit offers 30km of zigzags and excitement.<br><br><b>Rwanda and Nigeria (Abuja) have also thrown their hats into the ring.</b> <br><br><i>Pics 1&amp;2, Kyalami, Johannesburg</i> <br><i>Pics 3&amp;4, Cape Town </i>
