One dead, another injured while attempting to rescue 4-year-old boy who fell into abandoned well in Kano

<img src="https://www.lindaikejisblog.com/photos/shares/IMG_9212_1753620355.jpeg">Two people, including a 4-year-old boy, drowned in an abandoned well in Unguwar Malamin Kurunsumau, Kura Local Government Area of Kano State.The spokesperson of the Kano State Fire Service, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, who confirmed the incident, said two men, Abubakar Muhammad and Jibrin Muhammad, attempted to rescue the minor after he fell into the well.Jibrin and the minor d!ed while Abubakar survived.According to him, the incident occurred on Thursday, 24 July 2025, at about 6:50 p.m.Abdullahi stated that the fire service received a distress call from a resident, Zakariya Adamu, who reported that a four-year-old boy, Abubakar Ahmad, had accidentally fallen into an old, disused well, which was previously used for pumping refuse.In an attempt to rescue the boy, a 22-year-old man, Abubakar Muhammad, jumped into the well but was also trapped. Another man, Jibrin Muhammad, 30, joined the rescue attempt but similarly became trapped, he said.He stated that rescue teams from the state fire service headquarters were immediately deployed to the scene.All three victims were pulled out, but two were found unconscious and later confirmed d3ad.
