Bay FC Honour Oshoala After WAFCON Triumph

<blockquote><b>Though she is yet to return to her club, Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala, is already getting signals of a heroines welcome at Bay FC after winning Nigerias 10th WAFCON title on Saturday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.</b><br><br><b>The National Womens Soccer League side hosted Urawa Reds Ladies in the final game of their summer series on Sunday, when they displayed Oshoalas picture with the WAFCON trophy at the PayPal Park.</b><br><br><b><i>Thats our champion. Sending our love and congrats from Pay Pal Park,</i></b> the club posted via X as the announcer also rang it to the ears of the fans inside the stadium.<br><br>Playing in her sixth tournament, <b>the six-time African Womens Footballer of The Year scored Nigerias first goal at the tournament, during the 3-0 win over Tunisia, and led the team to a record-extending 10th title.</b><br><br>She started Nigerias first two games before starting the quarter-final against Zambia and the final game against Morocco from the bench.<br><br><br>Until the tournament, Oshoala had missed the national team assignment since the Olympics.<br><br>Its been a while since Ive played with the national team. Obviously, there are so many things going on behind the scenes with me that I had to deal with personally. But whenever Im here, whenever Im on the pitch, I want to score goals. I want to play, help my teammates to get three points each game we play, she said before the tournament.<br><br>During the tournament, the 30-year-old was also rumoured to have retired from international football, but she has dismissed the rumours.<br><br><b>Im still here. Im still playing. Im still doing my job.
