Wike is unknown in PDP, cant stop Peter ObiParty Chieftain Jacob Mark

Published by Linda Ikeji on Fri, 01 Aug 2025

A former National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jacob Mark, has stated that Peter Obi should not be concerned about the influence of Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, should Obi decide to return to the PDP.Speaking on Arise News, Mark dismissed the notion that Wike controls the PDP, describing such claims as exaggerated.Wike is not a member of the PDP. For over a year now, he hasnt attended any PDP meetings, Mark said. When people say hes in control of the party, I get worried because it shows how little effort we put into investigating the truth.Mark, who was in Kaduna for a state caucus meeting ahead of a bye-election, emphasized that the PDP continues to function effectively at the state level without Wikes input. We are running the party independently. No one here is aware of what Wike is doing in Abuja. In Kaduna State, Wike has zero influence. He is not known in our political structure. He also pointed out that Wikes supposed grip on the PDP could be due to his allies within the National Working Committee or others who may be acting in his interest. However, Mark insisted that Wike does not control the party. With the efforts of PDPs founding members in recent months, the party is regrouping and regaining focus. We are building a stronger, more effective opposition party, and Nigerians will soon see the difference. He welcomed the departure of some party members, saying it has opened the door for growth and fresh leadership. The exit of some individuals has allowed others to rise. Some people refuse to step aside, blocking progress. Their departure is giving room for younger leaders to emerge.Mark concluded by saying that while Wike may consider himself a PDP member, his absence from party activities and open support for PDPs opponents disqualifies him from claiming any real influence.Wike hasnt attended the NEC in over a year, hasnt contributed to party decisions, and has even admitted to supporting PDPs opponents. In many states across the country, including Plateau and Benue, Wike is simply unknown. The post Wike is unknown in PDP, cant stop Peter Obi Party Chieftain Jacob Mark appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
